Voyages . . . whai can express the meaning
Are they found in time and space
Or do they generate from books and knowledge
Can they be memories of years gone bv
And times not to be forgotten . . .

Senior Trip
To
Cedar Point
Bright and early, like about 5
A.M., or May 27, the Seniors boarded
the buses to leave on their Senior Trip
to Cedar Point, Ohio. It was about an
eight hour trip to the Hotel Breakers
where they stayed. That afternoon and
evening was spent looking around the
park. The next morning, they were
turned loose with tickets to get their
stamps and strings to get them on all
the rides free.
At 5 P. M. the same afternoon, they
again boarded the buses for the long
trip home. It was a long trip in such
a short time, but well worth it as every-
one will agree.
Thank you to the school board and
Mr. Miller for your permission for the
trip.

Juniors . . . From Milkshakes To Prom
In order to make the Jr. /St. Prom a success, the Junior class led by the offi-

largest of these projects was the milkshake machine, which proved popular with the
student body and at basketball games.

Toni King, the two teams

Student Council Charts Change
With President Kay Fiedorek and Vice-Pres-
ident Bruce Meggison at the helm, the C, H. S,
Student Council set bravely forth to chart a
course of change for 1970-71. The most impres-
sive of these changes involves the new relaxed
dress code, and the long awaited installation of
a pop machine in the cafeteria. In addition to
their regular duties of approving class and club
acti^^.ties, they also sponsored Homecoming, and
rewrote the School Constitution. This new con-
stitution paves the way for better student repre-
sentation and an even more effective council for
next year. Members of this year's council are;
Senior Representatives Beth Inman (who also
served as Secretary-Treasurer) and Terry El-
zinga; Jill Warner (Junior), Connie Crain (Fresh-
mian), Lisa Wasoski (Sophomore), Kay Fiedorek,
(President), Fred Dsvison (Junior), and Dan
Austin (Freshman). Missing from picture: Bruce

Working Hard
To Keep C.H.S.
Running Smoothly
There are many hidden factors in the operation and
running of a high school. Those people who perform the
many everyday acts we rarely find out about, are actual-
ly the only ones who understand how complex this job can
be at times. Vane Smith has played many roles to us l3e-
sides that of Principal, including counselor and teacher.
In trying to keep the 400 plus occupants of C. 11. S. in line
as well as dealing with administrative problems, he has
endeavored to run our school with a firm but fair and un-
derstanding hand.
One person who understands this better than most is
Mrs, Joanne Grubaugh. With the aid of office assistants
Sandy Cellner and Terri Wood, Mrs, Grubaugh has solves
many problems we've brought to her in our year at
C. H. S. , as well as handling the mountains of paperwork
which always seem to accrue in the office.
To these people who have helped us during our school
years, we would like to say Tliankyou,

We the Rayder staff wish to thank all those who assisted in making this
a successful yearbook. An extra thanks must go to all those organizations
and students who supplied us with those special activities pictures and the
Charlevoix Courier for sports action shots which we were unable to obtain
on our own. Official photographer for the 1971 Rayder was Luciano of
Petoskey.
